Policy:

Missed lessons:
Students are charged for all registered lessons. Notification of a cancelation is a courtesy to the teacher, but does not exclude the payment for that lesson.
Please do not attend if your child is ill or contagious. Due to scheduling and other professional commitments, one make-up lesson a year will be offered for times of illness or emergency. Those will be scheduled during make-up days only.
If you are not able to come to your lesson, you may swap a lesson with another student. The lessons missed by the teacher will be made-up upon mutually agreed time. The teacher is not obligated to make-up missed make-up lessons.
If you intend to discontinue your lessons, please notify us at least one month ahead of time. You will be expected to pay the full monthly tuition for that month.

Practice: Students, with help of their parents, should set regular daily practice times. The amount of of practicing will highly increase a student's progress. Regular practicing is the surest guarantee of consistent improvement on the instrument.
Parent support is also an important factor in musical training. Children whose parents take an active and honest interest in child's progress tend to be more enthusiastic and productive. Please, encourage your children!

Book purchase: Parents usually purchase books for their children based on my recommendation and we will continue that practice.

Recitals: Recitals build confidence and motivate students.they also provide parents and family with the opportunity to enjoy their children's performances. All music should be memorized for the recital. The teacher withholds the right to withdraw a student from the recital program in case the student is not performance ready.

Competitions: To exceptional students who seem to possess the necessary maturity, discipline, talent, and temperament, the teacher may offer the opportunity to participate in competitions. Keep in mind that competitions require a high level of determination, more serious practice habits, and the ability to perform in a competitive arena with the high level of confidence and intensity. Furthermore, preparing for a competition may require additional private lessons. Students who decide to participate in a competition are responsible for the competition fees.

Certificate Advancement Program: As a member of MTNA ( Music Teacher's National Association ) and ASTA ( American Strings Teacher Association), the teacher would like to use the opportunity offered by the ASTA organization to enroll the students into Certificate Advancement Program (CAP) which is a ten year graded course of study that helps with the development of violin performance, technique, and theory. All the students are strongly encouraged to take an interest in this excellent program.

Summer lessons: In the summer months of June and July many students take extended vacations. If you would like to keep your spot in the studio, you need to take at least two private lessons during those two months. Extensive periods without practicing will result in poor performance. If possible, please inform me about your summer plans ahead of time.
